MetroLift will help Houstonians with disabilities by picking them up. (MetroLift)

MetroLift picks up Houston residents from their homes and gives them rides around the city. It services most areas of Harris County, including Humble, Kingwood, and Clear Lake. So, who qualifies for this service and how do you use it?

Do I Qualify?

MetroLift services those with disabilities across Houston. You qualify for this service if:

  • Your disability prevents you from walking or rolling to a bus stop without assistance.
  • You need assistance to get on or off one of METRO’s other services.
  • You could use one of METRO’s other services but there are physical barriers along the route that prevent you from using it.

How Do You Apply?

You can fill out an application online or print one to mail. A certification form from your doctor healthcare provider who is familiar with your disability must also be completed. The applicant will also have to participate in an in-person interview. METRO will determine if you’re eligible for the service 21 days after your interview.

How To Ride

MetroLift customers can schedule a ride by phone or online at least one day in advance. If they need a ride the same day, they can call METROLift at 713-652-8015 and provide their customer ID number and then request a ride. Service hours can run from 3:25 a.m. - 2:30 a.m. in most of Harris County. Residents can book rides to a range of locations including doctor’s offices, restaurants, work, sports events, and more.
