Uptown, which sits west of downtown, is truly the heart of Houston. It’s the place to shop until you literally drop, indulge at some of the city’s tastiest restaurants, and visit some of Houston’s most well-known landmarks like The Galleria and the Waterwall. Let’s explore!

The Best Restaurants in Uptown

Grab your stretchy pants because this part of Houston is filled with tons of tasty dining options. Craving seafood as we close out summer? Then make a stop at Willie G’s for fresh Gulf oysters, seafood, and prime steaks. For a cute date night, sip wines from around the world at Stella’s Wine Bar inside the Post Oak Hotel. Enjoy delicious Persian dishes at Rumi’s Kitchen, like their chicken kabob with saffron basmati rice. Finally, if you’re looking for Tex-Mex and a festive atmosphere, you can’t go wrong with a margarita and a plate of fajitas on Ninfa’s patio.

The Best Places to Explore

We all know that Uptown boasts The Galleria, the ultimate shopping destination for Houstonians and the largest mall in Texas. If you’ve been to The Galleria a million times, or feel like it’s too crowded, then you should check out Uptown Park, where you can eat and shop to your heart’s content, with an upscale but more demure vibe. Grab a fresh cup of joe at Giant Leap Coffee, try the Thai Mango salad at Mendocino Farms, enjoy the smoked salmon and pesto and a glass of wine at Postino, or a fancy steak at J. Alexander’s. Once you’re done eating and shopping, stick around for some live music and dancing at The Rustic. Finally, you can’t visit Uptown without going to the Waterwall, known for many photo opps of proposals, proms and quinceañeras.

The Best Spots For a Staycation

Do you need a quick get-a-way? The Post Oak Hotel is a luxury retreat inside the city, where you can relax and unwind. Spend the day at their spa or their beautiful pool space. The Houstonian is another classic Houston hotel, which offers an extended VIP stay where you can use their outdoor jogging trail, resort pools, and receive complimentary access to the Houstonian Club.
