It’s easy to picture only Hobby Airport when you think of this part of town, but there’s much more to this sprawling area. Below, newsletter reader Robert gives us his personal tour.
Flight Museum
There's history, starting with the 1940 Air Terminal Museum. Filled with vintage airline memorabilia, the Art Deco building was designed by architect Joseph Finger, who also designed City Hall.
Historic Homes
Glenbrook Valley is not only Houston’s largest historic district, it’s the world's largest post-WWII historic district. Take a drive and gawk at some of the city's coolest mid-century houses — like the 7500 block of Cayton Street, where the Greater Houston Builders Association held its “Parade of Homes” showcase in 1956.
Peacocks & Garden Trip
Go peacock spotting (it won't take long to find one!) along Garden Villas tree-lined streets. Then check an item off your Houston bucket list with a trip to the city's botanical garden – a great place to enjoy our fall weather.
Best Bites
Grab a delicious burger from Hangar Kitchen. Stop at Shan Hu for tasty Chinese food, or head to Habanera & the Guero, known for its enormous, made-with-real-fruit margaritas. Finally, try Taqueria Del Sol, a Mexican restaurant serving the city for more than three decades.
