You might’ve heard that the Michelin Guide, the authority on fine dining, is coming to Texas! Anonymous inspectors will review restaurants in Houston, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, and San Antonio for the revered guide. So, which Houston restaurants do we think should get a Michelin star rating? Here are some of our favorites!
Le Jardinier
This French restaurant located in the Museum of Fine Arts Houston is a perfect contender for the Michelin Guide. The restaurant concept, which also has locations in New York, Miami, and Switzerland, was created by Michelin-starred chef Alain Verzeroli. Le Jardinier offers delicious and well-crafted French dishes that would impress any reviewer.
Nancy’s Hustle
Since it opened in 2017, Nancy’s Hustle has remained a favorite among Houstonians for their delightful dishes, like the ever-popular Nancy Cakes, plus their wines and cocktails. The EaDo restaurant started as a place for the neighborhood, but quickly gained national recognition for its food, landing as a finalist for the James Beard Awards more than once.
Tatemó
Chef Emmanuel Chavez of Tatemó is extremely talented, making it earlier this year to the final round in the Best Chef: Texas category in the James Beard Awards. What makes Tatemó even cooler is their BYOB policy, where you can bring your own wine, beer, or booze from home, and also enjoy their acclaimed tasting menu, which includes items like their mouth-watering ceviche.
Jūn
Earlier this year, Top Chef finalist Evelyn Garcia opened the "new Asian American" cuisine restaurant, alongside co-owner Henry Lu. The restaurant’s name, Jūn, honors the birthday month for Lu’s sister and Garcia’s mother. Meanwhile, the food continues to get rave reviews, including their oysters, cornbread, beef tartare, and shrimp aguachile.
Despite Houston’s renowned food scene, here’s why we didn’t take home any awards during the “The Oscars of Food” this year 🏆
