Now that the temps have finally dropped a bit, are you craving a cozy dish to get into the fall mood? Enjoy this round-up of the best fall dishes, plus some picks from the City Cast Houston crew.

Delicious Pasta at Paulie’s

For me, a perfect fall evening means devouring the bucatini amatriciana and a glass of prosecco at Paulie’s in Montrose. If you have room, order one of their pizzas, like their Eleni, the pepperoni pizza, or their Vinnie, their Italian sausage and cheese pizza.

Tortilla Soup at Armandos or Grace’s

Tortilla soup at Tex-Mex favorite Armandos is a perfect dish as the temperatures cool down. The soup is made with a light chicken broth, shredded chicken, diced tomatoes, corn, cheese, and topped with tortilla strips and avocado. And, of course, it’s not complete without a margarita. City Cast Houston producer Carligonon Jones also loves the tortilla soup at Grace’s.

Pumpkin Spice at Buttermilk Baby

If you haven’t been to the new comfort food restaurant Buttermilk Baby in the Heights yet, then now is a great time to go! Enjoy some seasonal drinks, including their pumpkin frappe, pumpkin-spice latte, and their pumpkin-spice boozy shake with Absolut Vanilla vodka and Bailey’s.

Warm up With Phở

Phở, a Vietnamese soup with rice noodles, herbs, and usually beef, is an essential meal for the fall and winter months in Houston. Try the phở at longtime family-owned Vietnamese restaurant Phở Thahn Long. At Les Ba’get, a Vietnamese café in the Heights, you can warm up with their

phở made with beef broth that has simmered for 24 hours.

Oxtails at Lucille’s

City Cast Houston Executive Producer Laura Isensee loves the braised oxtails with cheddar grits at Lucille’s. As for me, I could eat just a bowl of their baked mac & cheese and cornbread and leave satisfied. It’s so good that it was part of my Ultimate Houston Food Plate.

New Fall Menu at Money Cat

Chef Sherman Yeung has introduced a new fall menu at his Japanese restaurant, Money Cat. This dish caught my eye: the honey vanilla milk buns made with fermented honey butter, smoked trout roe, and garlic chips.

Pumpkin Cheesecake at Saltgrass Steakhouse

If you listened to our guide to October, you quickly realized that City Cast Houston Host Raheel Ramzanali is a huge fan of the pumpkin cheesecake at Saltgrass Steakhouse. Order it quickly because it’s only around for a limited time!
