If you’re looking for a barred owl sighting, you’ll have to travel north of the city (think the Woodlands and beyond!). Ethan Placke, the Houston Parks Board conservation technician, describes the owl as an introvert that stays within 10-miles of their home (I can relate!). They also like to sing.
“An easy way to identify a barred owl is by listening for their favorite tune, which sounds similar to ‘Who cooks for you; who cooks for you all?” writes Placke.
