It’s that stretch of January where we get gorgeous weather (I’m definitely not complaining!), and it’s the perfect time to be out in nature. Liz Landry of Houston Arboretum offers tips on how to take a mindful walk.
“Pick a spot about 10 to 20 feet ahead of you. From where you are now, move slowly to that spot. Use your eyes to scan the ground, looking for any critters that may dart under the leaves as you approach. Scan at eye level, slowing down even more to observe the way the bark on a tree curves. When you reach your spot, take a deep breath in and out, hold your body still, and look for movement. It may be as a bird flies over or as the wind moves through the leaves. There may be no movement at all if it is a still day. Then continue your walk at a pace that you find comfortable. Enjoy your time outside!”
