It’s a New Year, but we still have the same big Houstonian appetite! I’ve rounded-up restaurants that closed for good over the holidays, some news on former Houston Rockets star James Harden’s restaurant reopening, and where you should cheer on the Houston Texans this weekend. Bon appétit!
🍽️ Which Restaurants Recently Closed?
Some restaurant and brewery favorites have closed including Dish Society in Tanglewood, Ingenious Brewery in Humble, Killen’s TMX in Pearland, and others. Some restaurant closures will spawn new openings, such as Dak & Bop, a Korean fried chicken joint, which will move to a new location in Museum District soon. [Eater Houston]
🏀 James Harden’s Restaurant Will Reopen
The former Houston Rocket star’s restaurant Thirteen is set to reopen next month in Midtown. Guests can also expect a new food menu with Japanese and American influences, with dishes such as lobster shrimp and dumplings, smoked hamachi tacos, and herb-crusted lamb chop. [Houston Chronicle 🔒]
🏈 Where To Watch The Houston Texans
Watch the Texans take on the Cleveland Browns on Saturday night at delicious sister restaurants Money Cat in Upper Kirby or Tobiuo in Katy’s LaCenterra. If you wear your Texans gear, you’ll get a 10% discount off your tab. Enjoy modern Japanese dishes with a beer or craft cocktail while you watch the Texans beat the Browns.
🍷 A Night In Napa
Finally, make sure to check out Marmo’s five-course wine dinner on Tuesday night featuring wines from renowned Napa producer, Pahlmeyer. You can also enjoy rich pasta and buttery Texas wagyu at the Italian restaurant in Montrose. Make sure to reserve your spot early.
