We’re inching closer to Thanksgiving! Are you in charge of bringing dessert, or already dreaming about the sweets you’ll enjoy after the big meal? Either way, I’ve created a guide on where to get the best pies for the holiday 🥧

House of Pies

If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with House of Pies! My go-to is their Dutch Apple Pie. Meanwhile, City Cast Houston host Raheel Ramzanali can’t make it through the holidays without their Bayou Goo Pie, made with sweet cream cheese, chopped pecans, and a vanilla and chocolate custard swirl. House of Pies does not take pre-orders for Thanksgiving unless you're ordering more than 20 whole pies and cakes. So, be prepared for a line when you pick up Thanksgiving week!

Proud Pie

Dish Society is now partnering with Proud Pie, the beloved bakery in Katy that closed its brick-and-mortar store earlier this year. Scott Chapman, the owner of Proud Pie, says their state fair caramel apple pie is a best-seller, but they also are selling other classics for Thanksgiving like their pumpkin pie and bourbon pecan pie. They’re accepting preorders for Thanksgiving through Nov. 20.

Pondicheri

During the pandemic, City Cast Houston Executive Producer Laura Isensee ordered for Thanksgiving from Pondicheri, an Indian restaurant inspired by the streets of Mumbai, and loved every bite! She highly recommends their pumpkin chai pie and chocolate almond cake. Make sure to order from their Thanksgiving menu by Nov. 24 at noon if you want to enjoy it in time for the holiday.

Flying Saucer

Flying Saucer Pie Company is the oldest family-owned and operated bakery in the city, serving pies since 1967. It’s not Thanksgiving week unless you see Houstonians waiting in long lines outside to pick up their pies. They have everything from classic pies like dutch apple pie and pecan or pumpkin pie to more adventurous choices like their pineapple pie or coconut cream pie. You can’t pre-order for Thanksgiving from Flying Saucer, so be prepared for a wait. Their lines can be unpredictable for the holiday, so plan ahead. The wait is worth it, trust us!

Three Brothers Bakery

This longtime bakery in Houston is beloved by many, and is known for its traditional Jewish breads, cookies, pies, and other deserts. You’ll definitely want to make room for their bourbon chocolate chip pecan pie. And even though it’s not a pie, their pumpkin Thanksgiving cake looks dreamy!
