Below I’m recommending some of my favorite new restaurants I’ve tried across the city within recent months. As the holiday season approaches, here are some places you can take friends and family in town, or treat yourself to a nice meal.
Barcelona Wine Bar
This new swanky wine bar in Montrose is definitely worth the hype! I ventured here with a local food editor and another friend, so we got to taste a variety of items on the menu. I suggest ordering a couple of tapas for the table, such as the calamari and the spiced beef empanadas. The strip steak part of the Parrillada Barcelona large plate was tender and tasty. Finally, for dessert, I’m still thinking about this olive oil cake. Oh my goodness! So good.
Verde Garden
Verde Garden is a great place to watch a game or relax with friends on their outdoor patio. They also have a massive dining room perfect to warm up on on colder nights. The drinks here are what stand out, more so than the food. I suggest trying one of their specialty made-to-order margaritas, such as their Verde Margarita made with Blanco Tequila or Mezcal, lime, agave, dry curacao, mint, and parsley. I also thoroughly enjoyed their refreshing Paloma.

Citizens of Montrose
Citizens of Montrose is a new Australian cafe that opened earlier this year. I checked it out recently and was impressed with their delicious breakfast offerings. While there, try their banana bread French toast, which is the perfect first meal of the day. I also heard their Espresso martinis are extremely popular. If you’re visiting for the first time, I would try going during the weekday because the weekend brunches are packed.
