Houston Chef Finalist for Beard Awards

Chef Emmanuel Chavez of Tatemó is the only Houston finalist for the James Beard Awards. The city had eleven restaurants and chefs who made it to the semifinalist category. Last year, Houston’s Street to Kitchen chef Benchawan Jabthong Painter won Best Chef in Texas. [CultureMap Houston]

New Restaurants Opening in Houston

Chris Williams, the owner of Southern favorite Lucille’s, opened a new restaurant Late August in Midtown’s Ion building, which features dishes from Southern, African, and Central American foodways. Bar Bludorn, which offers Gulf Coast inspired dishes, also recently opened in Hedwig Village. [Eater Houston]

Rave Review for LuLoo’s Day & Night

Are you looking to add another restaurant into your rotation? Houston Chronicle food critic Alison Cook enjoyed many dishes at LuLoo’s Day & Night, including their brisket nachos, Rodeo Burger, and the Sag Paneer and Artichoke Dip.
