So, I have bad news and good news for Houston’s dining scene.
Bad news: A beloved barbecue institution will close down later this month. Good news: Grab your stretchy pants because a popular Los Angeles pizzeria and mezcal bar with a tasty menu are opening this week 🍽️
Houston-Area BBQ Institution Closing
Dozier’s BBQ in Fulshear will close on March 30. The restaurant has dealt with a decline in traffic since 2019 and exhausted all efforts to up their revenue, according to a consultant for the restaurant. The barbecue favorite opened in 1957, shortly after former owner Ed Dozier won first place at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Barbecue Cook-Off. [Houston Chronicle 🔒]
New Los Angeles Pizzeria Coming to Houston
Pizzana, a popular Los Angeles restaurant, will open on Friday, March 22. Enjoy their delicious cacio e pepe pizza, bianca pies, pappardelle with bolognese, and spaghetti al pomodoro. [Eater Houston]
Mezcal Bar Reopens in The Toasted Coconut
Quiote, a mostly agave-based cocktail bar, is reopening today inside Montrose’s The Toasted Coconut. The bar originally opened in 2020, but the owners closed it to focus on opening the popular Nonno’s Family Pizza Tavern. Enjoy an innovative bar and a food menu with Mexican and French cuisine-inspired dishes. [CultureMap Houston]
