To celebrate Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the City Cast Houston podcast team spoke to Sydney Dao, chairwoman of the Asian Chamber of Commerce, about Asian Restaurant Month and her recommendations for the best spots you have to try this month. Here are a few restaurants to get those mouth-watering eats:
🥩 For the Houstonian carnivore
Karne Korean Steakhouse in the Heights is a trendy fine-dining restaurant in a stunning space. It features prime beef, American and Japanese Wagyu, a multi-course chef’s tasting menu, and many inventive and flavor-packed dishes.
💕 Where to impress your date
Kiran's in Greenway/Upper Kirby is Dao’s go-to spot for the best Indian food in a beautiful restaurant with amazing customer service. Dao also sings the praises of chef Kiran Verma, whose warmth she says will be felt as soon as you walk in.
♨️ Best traditional cuisine
Shanghai in Chinatown serves authentic Cantonese food. Dao is a big fan of the fried pork ribs “that are out of this world.”
🤑 When you want a buffet
Head to Kim Son Buffet for the best bang for your buck, and when you’re craving delicious Vietnamese cuisine. They have two Houston locations in Bellaire and Jefferson.
