The Black-owned business, which serves New Orleans inspired Creole comfort food, originally opened in 1969 on Scott Street. Now, the restaurant has multiple locations across Houston.

Known for their flavorful chicken, Gus’s also has tons of sides like fried okra, fried green tomatoes, greens, and potato salad. The southern-style restaurant, which originated in Memphis, has two Houston locations.
