Hurricane Beryl left millions without power, severe home damage, and many Houstonians struggling to pick up the pieces this week. So, how can you help your neighbors?
Houston Food Bank
The Houston Food Bank needs volunteers in the coming days to help with sorting, processing, and packing food for vulnerable families. They’re also accepting monetary donations. A $1 donation provides three meals.
Salvation Army
Volunteer with the Salvation Army as they assist with disaster relief efforts in the Houston area. Donate nonperishable food, water, baby supplies, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies, which can help Hurricane Beryl survivors.
Red Cross
Many Houstonians and their pets are taking refuge at a Red Cross shelter this week. They’re looking for disaster volunteers to help with food, shelter, and coordinating mental health and health care for those affected by the storm.
The United Cajun Navy
The United Cajun Navy has been a reliable source for Houstonians affected by hurricanes. If you want to help them with search and rescue efforts, debris removal, and other disaster relief efforts, sign up to volunteer.
I want to keep updating this list with ways to help out, so please send opportunities my way.
