Tomorrow is 713 Day, which is a day to celebrate all things Houston! So how can you honor the holiday named after the city’s oldest area code?

The Best Food

One thing we like to do in Houston: eat! I suggest starting your day with chicken and waffles at The Breakfast Klub. There’s nothing more Houston than sweating in a line to get a delicious meal. For lunch, head to the original Ninfa’s on Navigation Boulevard, which has been serving up mouthwatering Tex-Mex since the early 1970s. Finally, end your night at Aga’s, a tasty South Asian restaurant that’s a favorite of City Cast Houston host Raheel Ramzanali.

The Best Cool Down

If you’re looking to cool off on 713 Day, then do some shopping and people-watching at the Galleria. For more indoor fun, then try roller-skating at Dairy Ashford Roller Rink or grab the family for bowling and go-karts at Funplex. Get lost at one of our amazing museums. I recommend the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, which is free and has extended hours on Thursdays, or the Menil Collection, which is free everyday. For the space-obsessed, learn more about NASA during a tour at Space Center Houston.

The Best Entertainment

Go see “Phenomenal Women” at The Ensemble Theatre, a fantastic play that honors the life and legacy of Maya Angelou. Watch a performance from Theater Under the Stars at this Houston institution, the Miller Outdoor Theater. Enjoy a show at Warehouse Live, where almost Houstonian Drake’s music career took off. Ben Kweller, who recently toured with Ed Sheeran, and hometown singer-songwriter Robert Ellis perform at White Oak Music Hall.
