The Best Treats to Beat the Heat

So, it’s getting hot. We can complain (trust me, I’m doing that) but I also have another alternative: Finding cold treats to enjoy in the heat. Ice cream is obvious, but I have some other ideas to help you sweat less. The only rule is: You can’t care about calories.

🍧 Snowballs at Bebidas

This coffee shop is already the perfect oasis, but every summer they open up a snowball stand worth raving about. Starting Saturday, enjoy their tasty and colorful shaved ice snow cones. If you’re looking for more snow cone stands, check out this list.

🍹 It’s Time For a Marg

What could be better than enjoying an ice-cold margarita on a restaurant patio? Well, heading through a drive-thru, purchasing a margarita to go, and then slurping it down wherever you want. I learned margarita drive-thrus were a thing during COVID and immediately started jumping up and down. Make a trip to Eskimo Hut, which has multiple locations across the city, for to-go margaritas, piña coladas, and daiquiris. Here’s more spots that offer frozen to-go treats.

😋 Let’s Get a Popsicle

Ice cream is out! Popsicles are in, especially if you’re lactose intolerant like me. I recommend trying a colorful popsicle at the East End walk-up Popston. They offer a ton of options, including, yes, doughnut-flavored popsicles. Also on my list to try this summer is Popfancy Dessert Bar, which offers some interesting options, such as popsicles made with avocado or Vietnamese coffee.

🥣 Grab Some Gelato

Finally, if you’re looking for another ice cream alternative, then try one of our great gelato spots. Some of my recommendations: Amorino in Uptown, Phoenicia Specialty Foods in downtown, and Fellini in City Centre or Rice Village.
