It’s officially rodeo season! That means devouring all the barbecue, fried treats, and other finger-licking good food over the next few weeks. So, where are the best places to go for rodeo food? I have you covered!
The Must-Try Food Items
You can’t go to the rodeo without enjoying barbecue! If you want classic Texas barbecue, then hit up Goode Company BBQ near NRG Center or Killen’s Barbecue inside NRG stadium. It’s a tradition for me to get a brisket sandwich from Goode Company every year! If you’re a fan of Bun B’s Trill Burgers, you gotta check out the newest attraction at the rodeo - Trill Town by the Kroger Gate. This massive experience features Bun B’s burgers, Trill Lemonade, barbecue dishes made with Truth BBQ, plus a live DJ and full bar. Make sure to add Cajun Cowboy to your list, too, for their award-winning deep-fried jambalaya egg rolls or new menu items like their Gator burger. Finally, if you want a sit-down restaurant, there’s only one on rodeo grounds: The Ranch Saloon & Steakhouse. At night, it transforms into a nightclub called The Ranch After Dark, where Melrose serves their world-class cocktails. Truth BBQ will also serve their mouth-watering plates on March 7 and 17 at the restaurant.
The Best Sweet Treats
On a hot day at the rodeo, refresh yourself with aguas frescas, topped with chamoy, tajin, and fresh fruit at Michelaguas. Craving something unique and sweet? Head to Fried A Fair to try ice cream nachos. Think a waffle cone broken into pieces like nachos topped with ice cream and chocolate sauce! For the cookie-lovers, go to Totally Baked Cookie Joint and enjoy their Cowboy Cookie Crumble, which has two big scoops of ice cream smothered in oatmeal cookie crumble. And, don’t miss the award-winning deep-fried bread pudding from Cajun Cowboy. Finally, make sure to try The Original Minneapple Pie, which won an award for Best Fried Food at the rodeo last year. Yum yum!

The Wildest Foods at the Rodeo
City Cast Houston Host Razeel Ramzanali is obsessed with trying some of the wildest foods at the rodeo. He got some tips from Dominic Palimieri, the chef behind different food stalls on the rodeo grounds. Those recs include stopping by Biggy’s and trying Mike's Hot Honey Corndog, which includes a pecan-smoked sausage that’s deep fried. Wow! For more adventure, try the Hot Cheeto Cheese Pickle Pizza at Enzo’s Pizzeria. Listen to the whole episode for the rodeo’s wackiest foods!
