It’s not summertime in Houston until you’re sitting with a nice big plate of barbecue! Houston’s barbecue scene is packed with newcomers and old favorites. So, which barbecue spot should you add to your list this summer? Patrick Feges, co-owner and pitmaster of Feges BBQ, shares some of his favorites below.
The Best Brisket
If you’re looking for perfectly cooked brisket that is moist all the way through, then check out Truth BBQ on Heights Boulevard. The City Cast Houston crew recently went and we loved every bite. Feges also recommends CorkScrew BBQ in Spring, which has been cooking delicious brisket for over a decade.
The Best Pork Ribs
Make sure you add the back baby ribs from Gatlin’s BBQ near Oak Forest, to your summer food bucket list. Feges also swears by the ribs at Pinkerton’s Barbecue, which is located on Airline Drive. Their ribs are slathered in their tasty candy paint rib glaze, which you can also snag from HEB.
The Best Sausage
Check out Tomball’s Tejas Chocolate + Barbecue, known for their chile relleno sausage. My mouth is also watering hearing about their Mac & Sleaze sausage at Blood Bros. BBQ, which is made with mac and cheese.
My Favorite Barbecue
I’m a traditional gal who loves a brisket sandwich from Goode Company. One of my other favorite places for traditional barbecue plates is at Houston Barbecue Company on Eldridge Parkway.
