Have Fun in the Sun at Levy Park
City Cast Houston Executive Producer loves taking her kiddos to Levy Park: “Let the kids bounce from the splash pad to the main playground and back again. Level up with a treat or lunch from a food truck and check the Levy Park calendar for fun summer concerts, like Storybook Opera presented by Houston Grand Opera. It features singing storytellers that sound simply captivating for the littles!
Go Stargazing With Your Kiddos
Grab the whole fam for a night of stargazing at George Observatory in Fort Bend. You can bring your own telescope or binoculars to take in the night sky with experts on hand to guide you. Tickets for this sell out fast, so buy yours today.
Get Lost in A Book at the Library
City Cast Houston Host Raheel Ramzanali is a huge fan of the library: “I always think back to my memories as a child of going to the library with my mom and siblings, so one of my favorite activities to do with my kids now is heading to the library. From reading books to playing games on the computer and participating in the many summer activities local libraries have planned, it's the perfect summer activity that will keep you entertained and cool!”
Check out Houston Botanic Garden
Houston Botanic Garden has tons of exciting activities for kids to enjoy all summer long. Enroll them in BotaniCamp, a nature camp where they can learn about plants and insects while exploring the outdoors. The park is open later until 8 p.m. on Saturday evenings all summer, with special programming like foraging and the secret life of bats. Mark your calendar for Bring Your Own Picnic day on July 5, so you and your crew can picnic in the garden.
Explore Houston Museum of Natural Science
Laura also suggests a museum trip: “This is a great option for big kids and littles because there's such a variety of exhibits, from Texas wildlife to gems and minerals, and, of course, the classic hall of paleontology, aka the dinosaurs! Plus it's free on Thursdays. You can make it a whole day by doing a combo of the museum, plus a ride on the Hermann Park train, and pack a picnic to eat next door at the McGovern Centennial Gardens.”
