It’s the start of a new spring season! That means it’s time to get outside and give back to the Houston community. Keep reading for tons of ways to help out Houstonians this month.
The Best Outdoor Volunteer Activities
- The Bayou City Art Festival, which showcases more than 300 artists, is looking for volunteers to help this Saturday, March 23, and Sunday, March 24.
- Sign up to set up new garden beds, plant seeds, and complete other garden upkeep at Katy’s Rose Therapeutic Garden on March 23.
- Houston Parks Board wants volunteers to help with conservation and restoration efforts, including removing invasive species and planting in their meadows, wetlands, and forest tracts, throughout March.
- The 2024 Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta, which is the largest canoe and kayak race in Texas, needs volunteers to help this Saturday, March 23.
- SIRE Therapeutic Horsemanship, which uses horses to help children with disabilities, needs volunteers to help clean out pastures, water and feed pans, and other tasks. Several four-hour shifts are available in March.
- Participate in Spring Volunteer Day at Blodgett Urban Garden in Third Ward next Saturday, March 30.
Other Ways To Get Involved
- Teach engineering disciplines and STEM concepts through hands-on activities to Girl Scouts on their Think Like an Engineer Badge Days.
- Every Monday, help Hope Impact serve those experiencing homelessness in Katy during their outreach program.
- Project Row Houses, a nonprofit that engages the community through art, needs volunteers during their 30th anniversary celebration, next Thursday, March 28.
