It’s only getting hotter, so where can you go to cool off? Follow my lead and head to your nearest pool to destress and pretend if only for a bit that it’s not 100 degrees. Here are some places to go with your friends, family, or solo during these last few lazy days of summer.
The Best Pool to Relax
Sometimes, I just want to relax and read a book by the pool. One of my favorite pools to do just that is Omni Houston Hotel Galleria. Enjoy a quiet oasis, where you can chill on one of their lounge chairs or sip a drink poolside at MoonShot Bar or Birdies Cafe & Bar. This pool is a little pricier for a day pass ($60 for adults) than others, but it’s worth the experience. Use Resort Pass to book your escape. Tip: If you’re looking to relax within your price range, use resort pass to search other pools in your area. For example, Hyatt Regency Houston West has day passes starting at $25.
The Best Pool to Party
If you’re looking for a pool and a good time, then head to El Segundo Swim Club in the East End. This pool, which offers affordable day passes for around $34, is perfect to gather with friends, have a birthday celebration, or other summer kickback. They usually have a live DJ on the weekends and serve delicious cocktails. Tip: This pool can get crowded on holiday weekends, so try to visit earlier in August before Labor Day.
The Best Pool For Your Family
The city of Houston pools are a great, free option if you live within Houston city limits, and want a place to unwind with your family. Check the schedule ahead of time before you go and make sure you have your driver's license to show proof of residency in Houston when you check in. Some of the more popular public pools within the Loop include Memorial Park because of its Olympic-size swimming pool and Emancipation Park for its large recreational pool and splash pad for kiddos. Tip: If you live out in the burbs, you should check out Noah’s Ark Pool in Katy, a popular pool for Pre-K and early elementary school kids because of its shallow waters.
Visit the Butterfly museum, grab some Tex-Mex, and cross off more items on our Houston summer bucket list before the season is over ☀️
