How to Celebrate Juneteenth
Kick off the Juneteenth holiday at Emancipation Park’s Celebrate Freedom Festival on June 1, where you can enjoy live performances from Houston Grand Opera and the Ensemble Theatre, participate in a spades tournament, and shop from Black business vendors. Take in entertaining performances with musical tributes to Frankie Beverly, Luther Vandross, and other powerhouses at Miller Outdoor Theatre’s Juneteenth Culture Fest on June 13. Next head to Galveston, the birthplace of Juneteenth, for some festive celebrations happening all month long! Stick around for Galveston’s big family-friendly Juneteenth celebration that will include live entertainment, delicious food, and other festivities.
