Starting to get bored of your summer routine? If so, then I have some fresh takes to liven up your July. Cool down with some treats and poolside activities, plus other festivities around H-town. Let’s get into it!

The Best Water Activities

It’s hot, hot, hot, so it’s time to refresh by the water. City Cast Houston Producer Carlignon Jones plans on cruising down Lake Conroe on a charter boat with Just Ride Watercrafts. I’m already eyeing their Karaoke Thursdays, where you can BYOB and sing the night away as you set sail on Lake Conroe. Looking for fun with the fam? Check out Typhoon Texas Waterpark in Katy, which has water rides, a lazy river, and cabanas you can rent for the day. Don’t have a pool in your backyard? No stress! You can chill poolside at exclusive hotels and spas around Houston with ResortPass. A friend and I lounged and enjoyed drinks at Omni Houston Hotel’s pool using ResortPass a couple summers ago 🍹

The Best Festivities

One of my favorite ways to cool off is watching a play at the Alley Theatre. I love their summer chills series, and starting July 11, you can watch Agatha Christie, “The Mirror Crack’d”. Houston’s own Mo Amer, famous for his Netflix comedy series and who loves honoring his Houston and Palestinian heritage, is coming to town on July 18 for his El Oso Palestino Tour. Finally, after a long, hot summer day, you can’t beat listening to music under the stars at Miller Outdoor Theatre. The Houston Symphony will perform free shows on the lawn throughout July 🎶

The Best Cold Treats

I keep seeing Happy Go Lucky, a new Hawaiian shaved ice spot all over my Tik Tok! I can’t wait to try their shaved ice – and the piña colada frozen cocktail. You can also enjoy a refreshing snow cone, smoothie, or aguas frescas on Bebidas’ colorful patio. City Cast Houston Host Raheel Ramzanali loves sipping on a mango lassi during mango season! It’s a popular South Asian dessert made with yogurt, salt, milk, and sugar. He swears Aga’s, a revered Indian and Pakistani restaurant, serves up the best mango lassi in town. Go check it out, and tell us if he’s right 🥭
