Who’s excited? The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo kicks off next Tuesday and runs through March 23. However, traveling to the rodeo can be stressful. Keep reading to find out the best ways to get to the rodeo below 🤠

Take An Uber

Rodeo festivities take place at NRG Stadium, which is near the 610 Loop and Kirby Drive. So, this is a good option for people traveling in a group. If you live 30 minutes or less from NRG, then avoid fighting traffic. Pick the person in your group who lives the closest to NRG and use their home as the meeting point. Then, y’all can Uber together and split the costs. At NRG, you’ll be dropped off in the Yellow Lot off Main Street.

Tip:

To avoid surge pricing, avoid Ubering to the rodeo during their peak hours like weekend nights or during popular concerts. If you don’t mind walking, try to get dropped off further away from NRG Stadium.

Take MetroRail or Ride the Bus

  • A pro at using Houston’s public transportation? Or looking for another convenient way to get to the rodeo? Take MetroRail, but make sure you catch the Red Line which runs along Main Street through downtown Houston, the Museum District, and the Texas Medical Center. You’ll want to exit at Stadium Park/Astrodome station. If you’re coming from the Green or Purple lines, you can transfer to the Red Line for a 30 minute trip to the rodeo.
  • There are three Metro bus routes that stop at or near NRG: 14 Hiram Clarke, 60 Cambridge, and 84 Buffalo Speedway.
  • You can also use Park & Ride, where you pay to park your vehicle in a designated lot, and then take the MetroRail or a shuttle to NRG.
  • If you’re a MetroLift customer, you can use it to get a ride to the Rodeo.

Park at the Rodeo

If you don’t want to do a lot of walking, you can park at the rodeo in their Yellow Lot or 610 Lot for $25 per car. There’s also a limited number of $25 ADA parking spaces in the Blue and Yellow Lots, for those with a valid state issued handicap placard or vehicle registration.
