Meet Dina Kesbeh, our lead producer who fearlessly leads the City Cast Houston podcast team.
Q: How did you first become interested in podcasting?
It was during my time as a reporter at the Houston Chronicle. I was already a huge fan of audio storytelling before I started at HC, and my editor at the time was also a big fan. So, we came up with the idea of starting our own podcast and interviewing guests we wrote about in the paper. Since then, I’ve wanted to learn more about the craft and get better at audio storytelling, so I pursued radio and podcasting in full force. I learned from some of the best producers at NPR, and circled back to Houston to help build City Cast Houston.
Q: What are your favorite parts of your job as lead producer for City Cast Houston?
My favorite part is when we as a team get to pick something we love about Houston and chat about it on the mic. It’s truly the best part of audio — getting to have those real conversations and sharing it with the rest of our listeners is the most rewarding and fun part of this job! (I agree! I loved this team chat episode where we asked if H-E-B truly is the best grocery store in the city?)
Q: What do you enjoy the most about Houston?
Our food scene! We have such a robust and diverse list of places to eat. I love that I can always try something new every time I go out for dinner. My current favorite eatery is Kasra. Try their kabobs, but don’t pass on the appetizers. I highly recommend their kasha bademjan. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
