Brandon Morgan became more serious as an actor after his son, Josiah, was born, dedicating his career to him. The Houston actor has been performing professionally for over a decade. In his most recent role, he stars as Omar the Butler in The Ensemble Theatre’s hilarious murder mystery, “On Midnight, Friday the Thirteenth.”
What is your earliest memory of performing on stage?
“My earliest memory of being on stage is in 2012 at Express Children’s Theatre doing ‘Pinocchio,’ amazingly with Nicholas Lewis who happens to be my castmate in this show over a decade later. It was my first professional experience and I have not stopped since that exact day. I’m blessed to be working.”
Do you remember the moment that led you to being an actor?
“That’s an easy answer. My son Josiah was born in 2012 and that moment alone forced me to make a choice where my life was headed. I was just introduced to theater and I couldn’t let it go. I made a choice that day that I would carve a path with making art, for me and my son.”
What do you hope audience members gain from this show?
“I hope that audiences come and have a good time! It’s not everyday you get to watch a play and let your hair down and just laugh. Theater can be very pointed and intentional with the content but this show is just an absolute basket of fun filled with chaos. There are cries, screams, laughter, dancing, and most importantly, who dunnit!? You come and watch ‘On Midnight, Friday the 13th’ and you’re in for non-stop laughs, a 70s party, and a mystery that needs solving.”
